As I'm still testing out, I can't confirm anymore usage than you can mine huge asteroids. Updating soon...

-Strip Miners can't be used anywhere: You need to find a "Rich Asteroid" and set it up within a 200m Range. Go to your miner when done, hit the "Enable" icons, select the resources to mine and sit back, relax. Mining takes averagly on 100% power with 1 Miner arround 3 days. Keep in mind: The storage of the miner is quite big, but it requires an emptying after ~15h.
