Resources can be stored on Cargo Pads or in the Vault. Resources are used to manufacture other items in the Refinery, Assembling Machine or 3D Printer. They can also be used as fuel, in-space objects, or as trade goods. There are several different types of resources that are all defined below.

Resources can be purchased in stations around the galaxy for U-nits U-nits, or obtained by trading with other players or manufacturing them yourself.

Raw Resources

Raw Resources are mined from asteroid fields by using Resource Extractors. They are stored in containment crates which can be then stored on pallets in your ship or in the vault at a base.

The following table lists the raw resources in the game, where they can be found, their rarity and how many can be stored per containment crate. Any raw resources that can be used without being refined are linked to the resource pages that show you how they can be used.

Raw Resources
Icon Resource Field Type Rarity Quantity Makes Crate Icon
Iron Ore Iron Ore Rock asteroids Common 600 per crate Iron Iron Ore Crate
Copper Ore Copper Ore Rock asteroids Common 600 per crate Copper, Brass Copper Ore Crate
Silicon Ore Silicon Ore Rock asteroids Uncommon 600 per crate Silicon Silicon Ore Crate
Zinc Ore Zinc Ore Rock asteroids Rare 600 per crate Brass Zinc Ore Crate
Water Water Ice asteroids Common 1,000 per crate Hydrogen, Oxygen, Deuterium Water Crate

Deuterium Deuterium Rock asteroids Rare 50 per crate Xanthium Deuterium Crate
Beryllium Beryllium Rock asteroids Rare 50 per crate Xanthium Beryllium Crate
Lead Ore Lead Ore Rock asteroids Common 600 per crate Lead Lead Ore Crate
Aluminium Ore Aluminium Ore Rock asteroids Common 600 per crate Aluminium Aluminium Ore Crate
Uranium Ore Uranium Ore Rock asteroids Rare 600 per crate Uranium Uranium Ore Crate

* Carbon is also a byproduct of the Life Support Systems.

Refined Resources

Refined resources are created by putting raw resources in a Refinery, or by finding them on certain stations. For specific usage of these items other than crafting please click the item link below.

Radioactive Resources

Radioactive resources are created in the Assembling Machine or the Nuclear Reactor from refined items and / or spent fuel cells as follows. While three of these items are manufactured in the Assembling Machine, they are listed here to help display the order of the reactive chain. For specific usage of these items other than crafting please click the item link below.

Scrap Resources

Scrap resources can be salvaged from wrecks or from deconstructing ships. Scrap resources can be put in a Refinery to make usable resources.

NOTE: Copper Scrap will be made only into Copper not Copper Ore and therefore cannot be used to make Brass.
