Description

The Nuclear Reactor is a large 3x3x3 structure for variable power generation. Currently nuclear reactors require three items to run; fuel, heatsinks, turbines. Running a reactor without fuel will generate no power, same as a hydrogen generator. Running a reactor without heatsinks runs the risk of the reactor overheating, damaging itself and everything in the room. Running a reactor without a turbine will generate no power but consume fuel.

Fuel

Uranium

U-238 Fuel is the most basic and least powerful fuel for a nuclear reactor. Each unit of U-238 added to a reactor will increase the core temperature by 100K up to a maximum of 400K above normal. As the reactor starts at 293K the maximum temperature of a U-238 reactor is 693K. Each fuel unit will last 30 minutes in a functional reactor. After 30 minutes the U-238 is converted to U-238D.

Plutonium

Pu-239 Fuel is the second tier of nuclear fuel. Each unit of Pu-239 added to a reactor will increase the core temperature by 200K up to a maximum of 800K above normal. As the reactor starts at 293K the maximum temperature of a Pu-239 reactor is 1093K. Each fuel unit will last 3 hours in a functional reactor. After 3 hours the Pu-239 is converted to Pu-239D

Pu-241 Fuel is the third tier of nuclear fuel. Each unit of Pu-241 added to a reactor will increase the core temperature by 500K up to a maximum of 2000K above normal. As the reactor starts at 293K the maximum temperature of a Pu-241 reactor is 2293K Each fuel unit will last 30 hours in a functional reactor. After 30 hours the Pu-241 is converted to Pu-241D.

Fuel Reprocessing

U-238D and Pu-239D can both be reprocessed in an assembling machine to the next tier of fuel in a 4:1 ratio. 4 U-238D make 1 Pu-239 Fuel.

Turbines

Turbine Basics

Turbines are the reactor component responsible for transforming the heat of the fuel into electrical energy. Turbine power output is linear with reactor core temperature and turbine material. Turbines lose one point of health per second while spinning in a reactor.

Turbine Material

Iron

Iron turbines are the first tier of turbine. Each iron turbine will produce a maximum of 600 power at a rate of 1.5 power per degree K.

Steel

Steel turbines are the second tier of turbine. Each steel turbine can generate a maximum of 2400 power at a rate of 3 power per degree K

Platinum

Platinum turbines are the third tier of turbine. Each platinum turbine can generate a maximum of 15000 power at a rate of 7.5 power per degree K. Platinum turbines will last 12 hours in a reactor
