Warp

All ships with a powered cockpit are capable of warp speed.

Power Consumption

To start warping or move up a warp level a one time charge of

10000 power

is required, and will be displayed as a progress bar in the cockpit GUI.

To engage warp the, cockpit has to be powered. The power consumption is calculated per tick:

WarpLevel * (50 + shipMass / 1000)

Trivia

Warp was added with patch 1.26 (warp 1) and updated with patch 1.27 (max. warp 9 )

Currently a ship doesn't need any engines to warp. Only a properly powered cockpit is needed to be able to warp.
